Down on the Farm...

Lou Montgomery
Seattle Strikers

Score - 48
Fastball Velocity - 60
Fastball Movement - 55
Control - 40
Command - 55
Curveball - 50
Cut Fastball - 30

Lou, also known as "Blondie", has a fastball that hits 90 to 93 MPH with average movement. He has an average curveball. He needs to develop a 3rd pitch, and the cut fastball doesn't look to be the pitch. He has trouble repeating his delivery which hurts his control. Left-handers don't have trouble hitting his pitches. He is giving up 3.7/9 BB in AA, and would likely give up 4.5+/9 BB in the ML. Lou looks to have the ceiling of a AAA SP with the floor of a AAA long relief pitcher.

Dwight Schneider
San Juan Pollos Hermanos

Score - 53
Fastball Velocity - 35
Fastball Movement - 60
Control - 55
Command - 55
Curveball - 55
Change Up - 60

Dwight's fastball is below ML average at 83 to 87 MPH, but it does have good movement. He has a good feel for a curveball which is developing nicely. His change up looks like it could develop into his out pitch. He could end up with 3 plus pitches. His arm slot is the same for all three which will help him get ML hitters out. He will struggle with left-handed batters. His control is improving in Low A and should be average-above average. Dwight has the ceiling of a ML closer with the floor of a ML seventh inning guy. If his control and pitches develop, look for Dwight to be on the "Chicken Brothers" ML team in a couple of seasons. Why is San Juan named the Chicken Brothers? What are the scared of? When interviewed Dwight didn't know, but he said, "I am not sure what it stands for, but as long as they pay me I am willing to pitch for them."

Omar Chirinos
Louisville ARF ARF ARF ARF's

Score - 59
Fastball Velocity - 75
Fastball Movement - 75
Control - 40
Command - 55
Curveball - 50

Omar has an electric fastball with great movement. It has been clocked at 94 to 97 MPH. He is able to keep hitters on top of the fastball which leads to more groundballs. His curveball is average and has a decent break on it. His control is severely lacking. His ceiling looks to be a AAAA relief pitcher with the floor of a AAA closer.

Ralph Young
Jackson Juggernauts

Score - 56
Fastball Velocity - 45
Fastball Movement - 70
Control - 65
Command - 50
Sinker - 65
Slider - 40

With Ralph's sinker, he is able to keep the ball in the park. His fastball sits at 85 to 89 MPH and has plus movement. His sinker is his out pitch. He has a nice pickoff move to 1B. Due to his troubles with getting right-handers out, look for Ralph to be used mainly as a long relief pitcher. Ralph is currently injured and on the 60-day DL. How he recovers and improves will determine if he makes it to the majors.
