AL North Team Awards

Dover Dinkleburgs
MVP-DH Armando Mota
Mota is in a league of his own.  I'm trying to find something negative about him, but the only thing I can come up with is that he can't run the bases worth a lick.  But who needs to when you hit 50 home runs.   This guy has 144 RBI's and 123 runs scored. Not to mention that he's hitting .351 and gets on base .442 of the time. He's also only struck out 41 times in over 600 AB's.  League MVP candidate for sure.

Cy Young-Valerio Duran
This is a tough one to call because Duran has 12 losses.  But he's got 18 wins.  He is pitching way over his head, and sometimes that's what you need to get you over the hump.  He's got a 3.31 ERA and has been a workhorse logging 231 Innings in 33 starts.

Scranton Associates
MVP-3B Tino House
While you could go through this lineup and make a good case for 5 players on his roster, I'm going to go with Tino.  He hit 21 homeruns, 95 rbi's and also hit .317 and maintained a .373 obp.  But the real reason I chose him over the other 4 guys is because he has the best Range factor for any 3B in the AL with a 3.61

Cy Young-Cyrus Torres
Although he isn't getting league Cy Young consideration, he should be.  Cyrus has a 20-8 record with 5 complete games in 34 starts.  His ERA is a respectable 3.69.

Syracuse Sodbusters
MVP-1B/LF Red Smith
Smith his a solid .293 this season with an ops of .779.  He also had a 13 game hitting streak.  Although they might not be the best numbers he has put up, at age 36 he can still swing the pine.

Cy Young--Alcides Terrero
He may not have been the closer for the entire season, but he was definitely a stopper all season long.  In 58 games Terrero was 13 of 13 in the saves department,  and had an ERA of 1.93 on the season.   He held opponents to a .225 batting average and struck out 44 in 56 innings.

New York Damage Controllers
MVP-RF Storm Mahoney
With a name like Storm, you expect a slugger.  And that's what you have in this Rightfielder. Storm didn't miss a single game all season, playing in all 162.  He smacked 45 dingers and 139 Rbi's.   He even scored 109 runs and stole 25 bases on the season.

Cy Young-Gary Brede
As a spot starter and a long reliever.  Gary Brede has pretty successful season.  He logged 128 innings in 41 games.  He started 9 of those games.  He posted a 3.79 ERA and held opponents to a .243 average.

NL West Team Awards

Seattle Striker
MVP- 2B Benny Navarro
Navarro put up some outstanding numbers this season. He only hit a .265, but that doesn't show his real value. He had a .380 OBP, that was aided by hi league leading 108 walks. He showed some power with 38 doubles and 27 homers and some great speed with an NL leading 57 steals. He also drove in 83 runs from the leadoff spot and scored 150 runs. A case could be made for him as the league MVP, but he can settle for Team MVP.

Cy Young- Alex Guerrero
While he's not this teams ace and isn't even considered their number 2 pitcher, he did have an outstanding season. He led the NL in wins with 20, was sencond in OAV with a .197, led in opponent SLG with .302, and fourth in ERA with 2.57. He also struck out 153 in 192.1 innings. Guerrero proved he had something left in the tank this season by putting up the best single season numbers of his career.

Colorado Springs Night Watchmen
MVP- RF Pedro Reyes
Reyes was the catalyst of this offense. He hit .287 and had a .356 OBP to go with a .497 SLG. He hit 29 homers and drove in an outstanding 118 runs while scoring 83 of them. He also doesn't strike out very much with only 60 K's in 574 at bats. Reyes has actually had better seasons, and will likely still have many seasons better than this, but this team will rise and fall based on his production.

Cy Young- Albert Blasco
Blasco is a rising star closer in this league. He's young and should be around for quite a while in this role. He saved 35 games this season in 41 tries. He pitched in 55 games and struck out 55 batters. Opponents hit just a .224 against him with a .296 OBP and .317 Slg. His ERA of 2.96 was a career best for him as well. Blasco finished fifth in the Fireman of the year race, but he should continue to climb those ranks in the future.

Albuquerque Komodo Dragons
MVP- Jorge Renteria
This was a tough decision here because they had a couple guys that could have taken this. The nod goes to Renteria for a few reasons though. One is because he plays a tough position in catcher. This season he threw out 32 of 105 steal attempts. On the offensive side of things he hit a .335, which was a career high. He also had a .384 OBP, and .611 Slg. He hit 29 homers, drove in a career best 103 runs and scored 66. Renteria is 34 years old now, but this season he showed no signs of slowing down.

Cy Young- Harry Guerrero
Guerrero didn't put up numbers that would be typical for this award as he went 9-11 record wise. He did however anchor this rotation. He pitched 223 innings and allowed only a .239 OAV with an opponent OBP of .306. He also had a 3.91 ERA. Those are pretty good numbers and should have been good enough to net him a better record than that. With all the innings he pitched he allowed the bullpen some relief though and that meant a lot for this team.

Oklahoma City Prairie Dogs
MVP- CF Carlos Zorrilla
Zorilla isn't the prototypical centerfielder defensively, but he more than makes up for that offensively. This season he hit a .310 and had a .421 OBP(2nd in the NL), with a .532 Slg. He hit 36 doubles, 7 triples and 25 homers. He drove in 92 runs while scoring 93 of them. He added some speed with 17 steals as well. He was 3rd in the NL in walks with 103 while only striking out 96 times. Zorilla is a force offensively and with some more help around him in the lineup his numbers could be even better.

Cy Young- Rick Owens
This was a no brainer. Owens went 9-10, but pitched 210 innings which was 45 innings more than the second best on the team. He also stuck out 161 batters and walked only 47. He had a .231 OAV, with an opponent OBP of .278. His 2.87 ERA was 8th in the NL and his 1.10 WHIP was 7th. Owens has the talent to be a really good pitcher and should only continue to get better.

NL South Team Awards

Houston Roughnecks
MVP- 1B Carl Esposito
I'm not quite sure there's another player in the NL that put up offensive numbers like Esposito did this season. He crossed the 200 hit barrier with 201 and hit a .318(4th in NL) with a .403 OBP(5th) and .591 SLG(3rd). His 47 homers paced the NL along with his 144 RBI. He was 2nd in runs scored with 139. Another impressive stat is the fact that he hits for power like that and was able to walk more than strikeout 90/85. He very well may be the NL MVP so he has to be his teams MVP.

Cy Young- Vinny Grace
This was a tough decision here. I could have gone with any of their rotation, but the win-loss of Grace tipped the scales in his favor. He finished with a 13-2 record and 3.55 ERA on the season. He was third on the staff with 164.2 IP and second in strike outs with 126 and OAV with a .224. He also had an outstanding 1.14 WHIP. He was a big part of this teams success this season.

Louisville ARF ARF ARF ARF's
MVP- 1B Vic Rijo
I'm not going to far outside the box in this division so far. Rijo is another league MVP candidate. He led the league in average with a .333 and OBP with a .434. Maybe even more surprising is that he led in Slugging as well with a .637 which was 32 points higher than second place. He totaled 34 doubles, 4 triples and 37 homers. He adds 110 RBI and 96 runs as well. His 87 walks to 50 strikeouts is the best ratio I've seen so far in the NL.

CY Young- Roland Sweeney
Another tough Cy Young decision. Louisville had a great rotation and Sweeney was the true ace. His 16-8 record to go with a 2.99 ERA and .228 OAV paced the rest of the staff. He also struck out 172 batters in 195.2 innings while only walking 40 and giving up just 19 homers. His name snuck onto the league Cy Young ballot a couple times late in the season, but ended up just out of the race. Still, he is his teams Cy Young.

Charlotte Bad News
MVP- LF Rico Tatis
This is just a division full of league MVP type players. Tatis actually was a tougher decision than the others because there were a few deserving players on this team. Tatis though gets the nod. He hit a .296 this season with a .366 OBP, and .605 SLG(2nd in the league). His 46 homers were second in the NL as were his 133 RBI. His 124 Runs scored ranked 3rd. To add to his numbers, Tatis even stole 15 bases to keep teams honest.

Cy Young- Willie Crawford
Crawford was an easy choice. He led the team in wins with a 14-5 record, OAV with a .216, and ERA with a 3.24. He also pitched in 169.1 innings and struck out 127 batters while walking 57. Crawford doesn't have the best stuff on this staff and isn't the ace, but he sure pitched like one this season.

Jackson Juggernauts
MVP- CF Scott Harvey
Harvey has a mix of good hitting to go with great fielding abilities. He hit 24 homers this season and 34 doubles. He drove in 85 runs while scoring 87 of them. To add to his power numbers he also stole 19 bases. He hit a .286, with a .350 OBP, and .509 SLG. He didn't have his best season in the field, but still managed 14 plus plays and a 2.19 range factor. Scott Harvey is a rare 5 tool player.

Cy Young- Rube Clark
This team may have had a let down of a season by their standards, but Clark didn't. He still went on to post a 15-5 record to lead the team in wins. He also led them in IP with 195.1, OAV .230, OBP .289, and a 3.27 ERA. He didn't just have a good season, he had a very good season. It's too bad that the rest of the team didn't join in on the fun.

NL East Team Awards

NL East

Jacksonville Juice
MVP- C-Julio Palmeiro
Palmeiro is my pick for the MVP of this team. He's a catcher that can hit and call a game behind the plate. He hit 28 homers and batted a .290, with a .369 OBP and .548 SLG. He also drove in 88 runs and scored 65. On top of that, pitchers had a 3.81 ERA with him behind the dish. He also threw out 40 would be base stealers. He is an all around backstop and that is why I pick him as team MVP.

Cy Young- Charles Hayashi
This is a no brainer for me. He went 18-8 with a 2.95 ERA. Opponents only hit a .242 against him and he pitched 198.1 innings. He led the rotation in innings pitched and gave up the fewest homers with 15. Hayashi had a dominant season in leading this team to the division title.

Philadelphia Money Makers
MVP- LF Mandy Whitfield
The guy can hit. He's not much in the field, but he is a great hitter that can smack a homer and steal bases. This season he hit 31 homers and stole 49 bases. He knocked in 81 runs and scored 104 of them. He actually had a down year by his standards, but his .267 average is still good. This is an all around player that would win team MVP on a lot of teams.

CY Young- David Ortiz
The selection of closer David Ortiz is not a knock against the rotation on this team. The rotation was pretty solid, but Ortiz was out of this world this season. He saved 46 of 48 games and posted a 1.26 ERA. On top of that, opponents only hit a .167 against him. Ortiz only pitched in 50 games, but that was all it took to become one of the most dominant bullpen arms in Pine Tar this season.

Cincinnati Firestorm
MVP- LF Rafael Unamuno
Offense in Cincy wasn't great this season, but Unamuno went about business as usual. He hit a .277 with a .369 OBP and .503 SLG. He had 31 homers to go with 76 RBI and 85 runs. For the first time in his young career he walked more than he struck out with a 73/71 ratio. Overall, it wasn't a great season, but it was an impressive season.

Cy Young- Timo Pan
Pan was the Ace of this staff. He led the team with 13 wins in 32 starts and had 1 complete game. He also broke the 200 inning barrier with 204.1. Opponents hit just a .241 against him with a .303 OBP. All of that to go with a 3.83 ERA which is pretty good for pitching in Cincinnati.

Washington D.C. Justices
MVP- 1B Andrew Overbay
At 36 years old, Overbay proved he still had something left in the tank this season. It's odd to give this award to a player that only had 367 AB's, but he led the team in runs scored with 75 in that few AB's. He also walked 77 times while only striking out 47 times. To add to those numbers he stole 19 bases and hit 12 homers. With a .292 average he posted a phenomenal .423 OBP. Overbay had another great season for himself.

Cy Young- Raymond Simmons
Simmons went 12-12 this season, but it's hard to overlook what he did besides that. He pitched 208.1 innings, and only gave up 16 homers and only walked 47 batters. Opponents hit .258 against him and only had a .304 OBP with a .359 Slg. He also finished the year with a 3.41 ERA. If this team had more offense when he took the mound, he could easily have had a much better record.
