Joel has a blazing fast cutter with an excellent bite. It registers 94 to 97 MPH, and he throws it with excellent control. His slider is a plus pitch that he can throw consistently. His change up and 4-seam fastball are fringe pitches. He really doesn't have a feel for the curveball but continues to try and throw it. Oklahoma City is using him as a set up pitcher so his future might lie in the bullpen. He has the ceiling of a ML #5 starter with the floor of a ML long reliever. Joel will probably be seen in the majors in a season or two in the bullpen.
