Phil was signed as an international free agent two seasons ago to a minor league contract with a bonus of $14.7 million. He was signed to play C, but he clearly is not cut out for the position. Some brave soul might move him to RF, although he really profiles as a DH. He has plus plus power with an outstanding eye and plus contact. Last year in High A, the season wore on his body, and he was only able to play in 84 games. He would be a stud if his receiving abilities were better at C. He would also be outstanding at DH if he looked like he could play 140+ games a year. His ceiling and floor is a ML starting DH, but he will not be able to play a full slate of games each season. When Los Angeles is in need of a DH, look for them to call on Phil to be their man.
